*job titles have never been particularly good at explaining it.
My brain likes a mess.*
*specifically the kind I can organize.Give me too much information, a slightly confusing brief, twelve open tabs and something that “just isn't quite working” and I'm probably having a pretty good time.
I started in communications, moved through agency life and eventually found my way into content systems — somewhere along the way realizing that the part I liked most wasn't just writing.
It was figuring things out.
How should this be organized? What does someone actually need to know? Why does this page feel weird? Could this process make more sense? Does this sentence need to be here at all?
Writing is still at the center of what I do. I've just collected a few more ways to solve the problem.
communications meant approximately seven things.
I started my career at the Nashville Technology Council, managing social content, promoting programs, coordinating events and learning very quickly that “communications” can mean whatever needs to get done that day.
enter: agency brain.
At MP&F, I learned how to switch voices quickly. Senior living in one tab. Healthcare in another. PR pitches somewhere in the middle.
then i discovered systems.
At Asurion, writing turned into content design, knowledge management, governance, analytics, learning experiences and a lot of figuring out how information should work at scale.
IN THERE
i kept making things on the side.
Freelance strategy. Brand building. Websites. roots & rally. Color Burst. This portfolio. Projects that gave me room to experiment and reminded me that sometimes the best brief is curiosity.
writer-ish. strategist-ish. designer-ish.
Mostly, I'm interested in the space where those things overlap — taking something complicated and making it clearer, more useful and more interesting than I found it.
i'm the person who reorganizes the google doc.
Hierarchy, naming, structure, consistency. I will notice it.
i care an unreasonable amount about fonts.
And spacing. And color. And whether the button feels slightly too button-y.
sometimes i accidentally start things.
A racquet sports community is probably the strongest available evidence.
movement. cities. good food. better people.
I'm happiest exploring somewhere new, doing something active or spending time with people I love.
a few things
outside the tabs.
places i've been, people i love + things that keep me moving.
